Are we healthier in 2020?
Every decade, the Healthy People initiative develops a new set of objectives to improve the health of Americans. Healthy People 2020, launched in December 2010, had four goals:
- Attain high-quality, longer lives free of preventable disease, disability, injury, and premature death.
- Achieve health equity, eliminate disparities and improve the health of all groups.
- Create social and physical environments that promote good health for all.
- Promote quality of life, healthy development and healthy behaviors across all life stages.
So, have Americans become healthier in the past decade? Progress reviews tracked trends in data for about 1,300 objectives from 42 public health topics. Search the data at healthypeople.gov.
