New imaging software aids stroke care

Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages Regional Hospital are now using the RAPID imaging platform from iSchemaView. This is the most advanced and only FDA-approved imaging software platform for stroke patients in this area. This new class of software means doctors can quickly see reductions in blood flow to the brain and early signs of brain injury. RAPID was recently adopted by the American Health Association and American Stroke Association.

“Implementation of the RAPID platform across our Central Florida Health facilities enables us to continue to provide the most advanced care in the treatment of stroke and assures patients that our team of skilled physicians is armed with the most powerful technology to allow them to visualize blood-flow deficits to the brain and make immediate critical decisions for those patients with the most severe strokes,” Selina Ancheta, BSN, RN, SCRN, system stroke coordinator for The Villages Regional Hospital and Leesburg Regional Medical Center, says in a news release.

Because RAPID enables doctors to learn the extent of a patient’s blood-flow changes in the brain, it means fast, better care for stroke patients. The images also are immediately available to the stroke team physicians at UF Health Shands through a hospital communication system that uses a HIPPA portal.
